Overview.

Komatsu is seeking an experienced Mechanical Service Technician to provide dedicated aftermarket support at Ironbark Mine.

This is a site-focused technical role supporting a critical customer operation, where your expertise will directly contribute to equipment reliability, production performance and customer success. The role has been established to maintain Komatsu's aftermarket support commitments and ensure world-class support for our underground mining customer.

Work schedule.

  • 7 Days On / 7 Days Off roster rotation - Tuesday to Monday

  • 12-hour shifts; 6am – 6pm

  • DIDO (4 hours from Rockhampton, 2 hours from Mackay)

  • Site-based role offering comfortable camp accom. & meals

 

The position.

As a Komatsu Mechanical Service Technician, you are the technical specialist supporting the mechanical health and performance of critical underground mining assets.

You will:

  • Champion safe work practices and compliance requirements.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and fault diagnosis support for Joy underground mining equipment.

  • Support the ongoing reliability and availability of the Komatsu JM7399 Miner

  • Analyse equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.

  • Work directly with customer maintenance and operations personnel to improve equipment performance.

  • Deliver technical mentoring and knowledge sharing across site teams.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability projects.

  • Build strong customer relationships through exceptional technical support.

 

About you.

You'll bring:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification

  • Strong Joy product knowledge

  • Experience gained through:

    • Underground mining operations; or

    • Equipment rebuild/repair facilities

  • Extensive fault-finding experience on heavy underground mining equipment

  • Strong hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting skills

  • Customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and influence outcomes

 

 Mandatory requirements.

  • Current S11 Generic Induction

  • Current Coal Board Medical

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate

  • Current Driver's Licence

 

Highly regarded.

  • Post-trade hydraulics qualifications

  • Experience with Joy Continuous Miners, Shuttle Cars, Feeder Breakers or Conveyors

  • Minimum 5 years' mining industry experience
