Great to meet you. We're Energetica, an end-to-end platform for everything to do with enterprise energy. Buying, selling, analysing, optimising, working towards net zero… you name it. We do it all, and we do it for some of Australia's biggest names, too!
We're a small (but rapidly growing) team, hyper-focused on building up and scaling our technology both here and globally, and we want smart, focused and hardworking people to join us as we head towards the next stage of our evolution.
Built and managed here in Australia, we are leading the way in technology for the energy and sustainability sector and looking for like-minded individuals who want to roll their sleeves up and get in at the ground floor of an exciting journey.
Our engineering smarts are what makes us different, and it's critical that every member of our engineering team not only loves what they do, but are bloody brilliant at it.
The purpose of this role is to help us keep our platform at the forefront of the market by supporting the platform and implementing key fixes and enhancements in our automated utility bill management systems, as well as operating and testing the platform for our key customers.
We're looking for someone who:
Takes ownership of problems until they're resolved
Is naturally curious and enjoys figuring things out
Enjoys figuring things out, taking ownership, and getting things done without needing to be told every step along the way
Communicates clearly and professionally
Can manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail
Builds trust with customers and internal stakeholders
Enjoys working in a fast-moving environment where processes evolve
For this position, we want you to convince us that you'll be fantastic at the following:
Understanding customer needs and requirements quickly and coming up with clever ways to address them while pushing the system’s overall capabilities forward.
Supporting and enhancing software, whether you have only a couple of years of experience, or several decades’ worth.
Ensuring that our software performs to the appropriate SLAs including delivery of billing validation runs.
Delivering and explaining reporting and exceptions to clients to ensure that appropriate next steps are undertaken.
Picking up complex new concepts rapidly.
Testing new stuff that doesn’t yet quite work yet and working with us on improving it.
Staying positive and productive around stress and tight deadlines which are unavoidable in a small startup.
Providing feedback and discussing solutions in a constructive and collaborative way.
As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to:
Work directly with our customers, who include enterprises, brokers and retailers to understand issues
Investigate and troubleshoot customer-reported platform issues
Reproduce software defects and identify root causes
Review application logs, data and workflows to diagnose problems
Translate customer problems into clear technical requirements
Coordinate with the development team to drive resolution
Perform platform testing and validation
Identify opportunities for process and product improvement
Manage support tickets from initial investigation through to resolution
As we're a small startup, you will be open to:
Getting involved in a little bit of everything: from customer support, to testing the system, and all the way through to energy analysis
Working hard, but also smart
Helping us plan and execute our product vision
Working closely with all levels of the team, from the founder onwards
You'll need to have at least some of the following:
Hands on experience using diagnostic tools and data extraction via SQL to investigate customer-reported issues, validate data, identify root causes and support issue resolution
Familiarity with computer science concepts that are relevant to everyday software construction
Comfortable working with APIs, databases, logs and application workflows
Able to distinguish between configuration issues, data issues and software defects
Exposure to software testing, QA or support engineering highly regarded
… but we don't require you to be:
An energy expert – (fantastic if you are, but we're also more than happy to train you up!)
We offer the following:
This is a hybrid role requiring 2–3 days per week in our Melbourne office, with flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week from a well-equipped home workspace
The opportunity to work with some smart people and to be part of something very big
A great salary appropriate to your experience.
If this all sounds like something you'd be interested in, tell us why and we'd be very happy to hear from you!
