Senior Project Manager - Consulting (Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane)

About the Role 

As a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of large, complex or strategically significant projects, ensuring both customer success and strong commercial outcomes.  

You’ll operate with a high level of autonomy, leading multi-disciplinary teams and guiding projects from initiation through to successful completion. Alongside delivery, you’ll play a key role in mentoring emerging Project Managers and strengthening our project management capability.  

This role suits someone who can confidently navigate both structured and ambiguous delivery environments, using Agile, Waterfall or hybrid approaches to suit the customer context.  

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

Lead Complex Project Delivery 

• Own delivery across the full project lifecycle for large, multi-stream initiatives 

• Build and manage detailed delivery plans, schedules, dependencies and critical milestones 

• Coordinate diverse teams and ensure alignment across workstreams 

• Monitor performance and proactively intervene to keep delivery on track 

• Support project recovery where performance is at risk 

Drive Governance and Executive Reporting 

• Establish governance frameworks appropriate to project scale and risk 

• Lead steering committees and executive forums 

• Provide clear, data-driven reporting to senior stakeholders 

• Ensure project documentation, controls and standards are maintained 

Manage Risk, Issues and Delivery Confidence 

• Identify and manage complex risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies 

• Implement mitigation, contingency and recovery strategies 

• Lead resolution of major delivery challenges and escalations 

Own Financial and Commercial Outcomes 

• Manage project budgets, forecasts and profitability 

• Oversee change requests, scope variations and commercial negotiations 

• Identify risks and opportunities impacting project margin 

• Contribute to pre-sales, mobilisation and overall delivery performance  

Build Strong Stakeholder Partnerships 

• Develop trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders 

• Influence decision-making across complex stakeholder environments 

• Navigate competing priorities and resolve delivery conflicts  

Lead, Coach and Grow Capability 

• Provide leadership and guidance to project teams 

• Mentor and support Project Managers at different stages of their careers 

• Contribute to continuous improvement, lessons learned and delivery standards  

 

What You’ll Bring 

We don’t expect one “perfect” candidate—but these capabilities will help you succeed: 

Experience 

• Extensive experience delivering large, complex or enterprise-scale projects 

• Proven track record managing scope, schedule, budget, governance and stakeholders 

• Experience working in consulting or technology delivery environments (desirable) 

• Background delivering technology or business transformation initiatives  

Technical & Delivery Skills 

• Advanced project planning (e.g. Microsoft Project, critical path, dependencies, resourcing) 

• Strong understanding of Agile (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), Waterfall or hybrid delivery models 

• Experience managing multi-workstream or enterprise-wide programs  

Leadership & Commercial Acumen 

• Strong financial management and commercial awareness 

• Confident engaging and influencing executive stakeholders 

• Proven ability to lead in complex, fast-paced or ambiguous environments 

• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills
