Where Buildings Meet Intelligence
Do you have a solid grounding in building technology - BMS, energy services or building controls - and a growing interest in what AI and automation can do for the built environment? Are you the kind of person who genuinely enjoys working through complex problems with customers and making sure they land well?
At Avani, we're looking for an Onboarding Specialist who can bridge the gap between what our platform does and what our customers need, helping them realise value from day one.
Why Avani?
Avani has spent 20+ years building technology that helps commercial and retail property portfolios operate smarter. Our platform connects building systems, billing, and business operations into a single intelligent layer - enabling automation, reducing cost and giving operations teams real-time visibility across their entire portfolio.
We work with some of Australia's largest and most recognised commercial and retail property owners, managers and institutional investors. Our team is small, collaborative and genuinely invested in the outcomes we deliver.
What You'll Do
As our Onboarding Specialist, you'll own the customer journey from signed contract through to confident, productive platform use. You'll work closely with customers to understand their environments, translate their needs into our solutions, and ensure deployments land smoothly and sustainably.
This is a technically grounded, customer-facing role - you'll need both the credibility to hold a conversation with a facilities or engineering team, and the communication skills to bring less technical stakeholders along with you.
In a lean team, you'll also bring your skills where they're needed. When capacity allows, you'll flex across to support our Customer Success function - helping with ongoing customer health, troubleshooting, and relationship management.
Key responsibilities:
Lead structured onboarding for new customers, from kick-off through to live deployment
Conduct discovery sessions to understand customer environments, systems, and operational goals
Configure and validate platform setup against customer requirements
Develop onboarding documentation, training materials and handover packs
Identify and escalate technical gaps or integration challenges early
Support the Customer Success team with account health activities when capacity allows
Contribute to improving our onboarding playbooks and tooling over time
What You Bring
We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in building technology who's ready to take that knowledge into a customer-facing implementation role - or is already doing something similar and wants to go deeper on AI and automation.
You'll need:
Practical experience with BMS, building controls, energy management systems, or related building services technology
Comfort working directly with customers - setting expectations, running sessions, managing competing priorities
An analytical mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Strong written communication skills for documentation and handover materials
A collaborative, low-ego approach - you'll work across a small team and everyone pitches in
You'll stand out if you have:
Familiarity with Tridium Niagara
Some exposure to Azure environments or cloud-based platforms
Some experience with AI tools, agentic workflows or intelligent automation in building or operational contexts. This is the area we're most excited about growing, and we'd love someone who shares that curiosity, even if you're still building your experience in it.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Join a tight-knit, purpose-driven team where your contribution is visible and valued
Work on genuinely interesting technical problems at the intersection of buildings, data and AI
Play a meaningful role in shaping how customers experience our platform and help us get better at it
Work on products that directly reduce energy use and operating costs across major Australian property portfolios
Ready to bridge the gap between great technology and the people who use it?
We'd love to hear from you.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and be based in Sydney, NSW. In-office presence is expected most days.
