This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly regarded narrow-web label printing professional looking to transition from production into a commercial and customer-facing role. Combining technical expertise with business development responsibilities, you will help customers improve their print performance while identifying opportunities to grow market share and strengthen long-term partnerships.
The Opportunity
As the technical and commercial specialist for the UV Flexo labels segment, you will work closely with label converters, production teams, and business owners to deliver technical solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and profitability.
You will collaborate with Ball & Doggett’s sales teams and Hubergroup’s technical experts to support existing customers, develop new business opportunities, and drive sustainable growth across the labels market.
Success in this role will be measured by both customer outcomes and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Provide technical support and application expertise to label converting customers across Australia.
Troubleshoot UV Flexo printing, ink performance, substrate compatibility, colour management, and press-related issues.
Conduct press trials, product evaluations, and technical demonstrations.
Deliver operator training and best-practice recommendations to improve print quality and productivity.
Support customers with process optimisation, waste reduction, and colour consistency initiatives.
Act as the technical liaison between customers, Ball & Doggett, and Hubergroup.
Commercial & Business Development
Manage and grow a portfolio of label converting customers.
Identify and convert new business opportunities across inks, coatings, consumables, and related solutions.
Develop strong relationships with production managers, technical managers, procurement teams, and business owners.
Work closely with the broader sales team to execute growth strategies and expand market share.
Represent Ball & Doggett and Hubergroup at industry events, customer demonstrations, and trade exhibitions.
About You
You are likely a current or former narrow-web label printer, senior press operator, production supervisor, technical manager, or applications specialist who is looking to broaden your career into a commercial role while remaining closely connected to the industry.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive hands-on experience in narrow-web label printing.
Strong technical expertise in UV Flexo printing and converting processes.
Proven press-side troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
Experience with colour management, print quality systems, and process optimisation.
Strong understanding of UV inks, anilox technology, plate systems, and label production workflows.
Commercial awareness and an interest in business development.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to engage confidently with both press operators and senior decision-makers.
Willingness to travel throughout Australia.
Highly Desirable
Existing relationships within the Australian label converting industry.
Knowledge of digital, hybrid, or complementary label printing technologies.
