About Australian Waste Company

Australian Waste Company is a Brisbane-based group of waste management businesses serving builders, tradies and residential customers across South East Queensland. We invest heavily in software, AI tooling and smarter customer service to stay ahead in an industry that hasn't changed much in 30 years.

About the Role

You'll be the face and voice of AWC during our busiest window — the early mornings, when tradies and builders are calling to order bins, swap bins, or sort out delivery issues. You'll own the customer relationship from first call through to delivery.

This is a new role, and it's a growth role. The person we hire has the opportunity to grow into Operations Coordinator within 12 months as AWC scales.

Your day, day one:

  • Answer incoming calls, SMS and emails from 6am to midday

  • - Quote new bin orders using our live pricing tools

  • - Place orders into our job-scheduling platform

  • - Follow up builders whose bins have sat on site too long

  • - Chase payment on overdue accounts with warmth, not pressure

  • - Handle customer emergencies and escalate urgent dispatches

  • - Keep our customer tier classifications current

Your day, month six:

  • Own a book of customers you've onboarded — and earn commission every time a bin goes out

  • - Run the morning dispatch coordination with the yard

  • - Be trusted with pricing discretion within agreed bands

  • - Train the next Customer Success Agent we hire

Your day, month twelve:

  • Take on Operations Coordinator responsibilities

  • - Help shape the rhythm of a scaling waste business

About You

You're the kind of person who actually does what you say you'll do, at the time you say you'll do it. In this industry, that is the whole game.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Love an early start — 6am doesn't scare you, it energises you

  • - Have a warm, confident phone manner — you enjoy building rapport quickly

  • - Are comfortable with tradies — you're calm, direct and unflappable with blunt, time-poor customers

  • - Can juggle calls, SMS, quoting, order entry, follow-ups, all at once

  • - Are tech-curious — you're not afraid of new software and you enjoy AI tools that make your job easier

  • - Own your work — you take responsibility for outcomes, not just activities

  • - Read people well — you know when a customer needs empathy and when they need a straight answer

  • - Live in Brisbane — you can reach our office for occasional team days and training

No specific experience required. You might come from customer service at a trade/logistics business, front-of-house at a busy cafe or medical practice, an admin/coordinator role at a builder or transport company, inside sales at any SME, or returning to work and looking for real part-time hours.

What We Offer

  • $58,000 base salary pro-rata at 30 hrs/week (equivalent to $73,000 full-time)

  • - Super at 11.5% (rising to 12% from 1 July)

  • - Commission: $7 per bin delivered to customers you personally onboard, first 12 months of that customer, capped at $800/month — OTE around $72k–$75k

  • - Company-supplied equipment: brand new MacBook, company Pixel phone with data plan, and a phone allowance

  • - WFH-first — work from home most days, Brisbane office for occasional team days

  • - AI-augmented, not AI-replaced — strong AI voice answering system handles after-hours volume so you focus on real customer conversations

  • - Written 12-month growth path — specific milestones to Operations Coordinator

  • - A boss who returns calls
