The Operations and Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a meat wholesale business while driving sales growth, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring efficient supply chain management. This role combines operational leadership with commercial strategy to deliver high-quality products, excellent customer service, and profitable business outcomes.
Operations Management
Manage daily load-out inbound/outbound distribution operations.
Oversee inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing waste and shrinkage.
Coordinate purchasing, receiving, storage, and dispatch of fresh and frozen meat products.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality assurance standards.
Monitor cold chain integrity and temperature-controlled storage requirements.
Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
Manage logistics, delivery schedules, and transport coordination.
Ensure workplace health and safety procedures are followed.
Sales Management
Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and gross profit targets.
Build and maintain relationship with butchers, food service businesses and other wholesale customers.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Negotiate pricing and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payment.
Monitor and understand market trends, competitor activity and product pricing.
Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
Ensure stock availability meets customer demand.
Skill Requirements
Experience in meat wholesale, food distribution, or the food manufacturing industry.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Sales and account management experience.
Knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency with inventory management.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
