Represent one of WA’s most recognised business brands and build relationships with the people shaping the state’s economy.
Business News is looking for experienced commercial relationship builders who want more interesting conversations, stronger client relationships and a closer connection to the WA business community.
This role could suit someone from account management, B2B sales, media, subscriptions, corporate partnerships, sponsorship, professional services, recruitment, customer success, finance, property, events or membership-based organisations.
The common thread is not your industry. It is your ability to build trust, understand people, manage commercial conversations and grow long-term relationships.
About Business News
Business News has experienced more than eight years of strong growth and has become one of the best-known business brands in Western Australia. Today, it is hard to speak with a WA business leader who does not know Business News.
Our commercial team works with a senior and influential client base across the WA business community. We are proud to pay fairly to market, but people join and stay with Business News because of the culture: high-performing, supportive, ambitious and genuinely team-oriented. Around 20% of our people have been with the business for more than 10 years.
The opportunity
We are expanding our commercial team and are interested in people who can contribute across areas such as:
Corporate account management
Subscription relationship management
Client partnerships
Business development
Commercial product advisory
Senior client engagement
For the right person, this is an opportunity to step into a role where the client base is genuinely interesting. You will be dealing with business owners, executives, professional advisers, corporate leaders and decision-makers across Western Australia.
What you will be doing
Depending on your experience and the final role fit, you will:
Manage and grow relationships with corporate clients and senior contacts
Understand client objectives and connect them with relevant Business News products
Build account plans and identify commercial opportunities
Develop long-term relationships based on trust, relevance and follow-through
Work closely with internal teams to deliver value for clients
Keep a disciplined pipeline and communicate clearly
Represent Business News professionally in the WA business community
This is a commercial role, but it is not a hard-sell environment. The best people here are commercially sharp, well-prepared, curious and relationship-led.
What we are looking for
You may be a strong fit if you:
Have experience in B2B sales, account management or client relationships
Are comfortable speaking with senior stakeholders
Enjoy learning about different businesses and industries
Can balance commercial outcomes with long-term trust
Are organised, self-managed and consistent
Have strong written and verbal communication skills
Want to keep growing, not just repeat what you have done before
We are open to people from outside media or publishing. In fact, this may be ideal for someone who has built strong commercial skills elsewhere and now wants to apply them in a more interesting WA business environment.
Why join Business News
Work with a brand that already has credibility in the market
Deal with a senior, engaged and influential client base
Join a business with a strong growth story
Be part of a high-performing but supportive team
Build long-term relationships, not one-off transactions
Work somewhere people stay and grow
Have genuine scope to shape your role as the business continues to expand
Who this will suit
This will suit someone who enjoys commercial activity but does not want a shallow sales role.
You might be in account management and want a better client base. You might be in media, recruitment, finance, property, SaaS or professional services and want a change. You might be managing relationships already but want to work with a brand that gives you access to more senior conversations.
What matters most is that you are curious, commercially mature, comfortable building long-term relationships and motivated by doing good work with good people.
